William "Bill" Ludeman, age 98, a long-time resident of Arizona, passed away peacefully at his home in Williams Bay, WI. Wednesday, July,15 2020 with his wife, Helen by his side. Bill was born on March 25, 1922 in Napoleon, Ohio to William and Glaydes (Barnes) Ludeman. In June, 1983, he married Helen Dedes.
Upon graduating from Napoleon high school in 1940, Bill enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served our country during WWII. He was honorably discharged in December of 1945 awarded with the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Medal Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Bill was very proud having served his country.
Bill enjoyed much of his life living in the southwest. He worked within the city of Tempe, Arizona's educational school district in the maintenance department, retiring at the age of 62. He was an avid golfer and often times could be found on the golf course or watching golf on television. He never missed an opportunity to share his successful round of golf "shooting a 70 on his 70th birthday!" Bill also enjoyed playing billiards with friends and family and continued to play up through the age of 97. He was forever creating laughter with his unexpected humor, providing a good joke, prank, comical facial expression or fake mustache with a song. Bill was a fun loving family man and will be greatly missed by all.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Helen; stepsons, Rod (Cindie), Greg (Gwen), Gary (Gloria) Gardner; grandchildren, Dawn (John) Lossos, April Bawden, Jessica (Patrick) Murphy; 13 step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; 2 sisters; daughter, Lana; great-grandson, Alexander Geyer; step grandson, Jason Wellington; first wife, Herma.
