Obituary for Warren H. LeMay

Warren H. LeMay, age 98, of Trevor, Wisconsin passed away Friday, 28, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 18, 1920 in Duluth, MN to William and Frances (Roe) LeMay. On March 22, 1945 he married Peggy J. Moffett.

Warren was a member of the National Guard in Duluth, MN since 1938.He was inducted into the Federal Services on February 10, 1941. There he served with the 125th Field Artillery, 34th Red Bull Division.
Warren fought in four battles during World War II. He served in Ireland, North Africa, and Italy.
Warren had the honor of being the personal jeep driver for President Eisenhower during his tour of duty. After discharge from the service, he worked at a steel plant before going into construction work. He was a very involved member of Local 152, Construction and General Laborers’ Union in Highwood, IL.

Warren was a good family man, a loving husband, dad, Papa Skip and grandpa. He was involved with the AK Police MP, taught Judo, and was very artistic. Warren enjoyed fishing at Camp Lake, and charter fishing for salmon. He loved motorcycle rides, especially with his sons and grandsons. He also enjoyed bicycling, nice cars, camping in Illinois and Minnesota in his trailer. He was a talented wood worker, who enjoyed the outdoors. He took pride in his home, yard, and garden. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Warren is survived by his wife of 74 years, Peggy; Children, Kay (Raymond) Brown, Kerry W. LeMay; Daughter-in-law, Sandra LeMay; Grandchildren, Tina Moore, Tim Moore, Eric (Aren) Brown, Aaron (Nikki) Brown, Kerry W. LeMay, Jr., Julie (Vince) Zullo, Jamie Fred, Lisa (Gary Jackson) LeMay, Michael (Danielle) LeMay; twenty-four great grandchildren; siblings, Jack (LaVane) LeMay, and Joyce Weight; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sherry Moore; a son, William C. LeMay; three sisters, Elaine, Shirley, and Mary Lou; and four brothers, Bernard, Donald, Clifford, and Kenny.

A visitation for Warren will be held Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Thompson Spring Grove Funeral Home, 8103 Wilmot Road, Spring Grove, IL 60081.

Funeral services for Warren will be held Monday, July 8, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, 33100 North Hunt Club Road, Libertyville, IL 50048

The family suggests memorials be designated to the Illinois CancerCare Foundation, 8940 N. Wood Sage Road, Peoria, IL 61615 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude PL, Memphis,TN 38105-9959.
