Eva Lynne Salmons, age 77, longtime resident of Maywood, IL and Huntington, PA; formerly of Bradenton, FL and most recently of Antioch, IL died January 6, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha. She was born on March 26, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to James and Edna (Orr) Gosnell. She married her true love, the Rev. Dr. Robert Lee Salmons on September 12, 1964.
Eva graduated from Anacostia High School in 1961 and earned a BA at Temple University, Ambler Campus in 1975. She graduated from the Chicago Theological Seminary earning a Master of Arts in 1987. She was ordained in 1990 at First Congregational Church of Maywood. She then earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in 2002 with a focus on the interface between religion, theology, ethics, the human sciences and major human religious and spiritual traditions.
In 2016, she followed her dreams and decided to leave her home and all behind and hop in the car to head towards Florida never looking back. It is there that she made her home and formed many friendships with others. She spent four splendid years there before just recently returning to Illinois. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and crocheting. She was an active volunteer in community events and enjoyed attending services at local churches as well as women’s spirituality events. Her focus was on spiritual meditation. Eva was a loving mother and doting grandma and “Ga-Ga”. Her kind, wise and gentle ways touched the hearts of whomever she met in life.
Eva is survived by her children, Rebecca (Joseph Carter) Salmons, Robert (Dr. Alissa Zuchman) Salmons Jr; grandchildren, Heather (William) Gray, Alexander Piragis, Elizabeth May and Aiden Lee Salmons; great grandchildren, Octavian and Ronan (Gray).
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Dr. Robert L. Salmons; sister, Anna Jean Gosnell-Quedens; and brother, James Felix Gosnell.
